QuickJack 5000TL Review + Upgraded Mod

Ditch The Jack Stands And Ramps

Jack stands and ramps are a thing of the past with a QuickJack. Once you try one, you’ll never want to deal with putting a car on jack stands ever again. Granted the QuickJack costs a lot more than a set of traditional jack stands or ramps, it serves as an excellent investment to anyone looking to easily work on any vehicle (home and professional use).

Even if cost isn’t a factor here, maybe space is.. With the smaller form factor in comparison to a full size lift, you can store this away when not in use, especially if you have a small workspace.

The Nuts & Bolts

  • Cost: 1650$
  • Power: 110v or 220v options
  • Lift Capacity: 5000lb
  • Weight:
    • Each frame – 78lbs
    • Motor – 15lbs
  • Length: 70″
  • Lowered Height: 3.5″ (with smallest blocks)
  • Time To Full Rise: 30sec
Un Boxing

The QuickJack system comes in 3 separate boxes. If the straps look a little questionable or the boxes have some dents, don’t worry, the inner packaging is very robust and once you open it, you’ll see that everything inside is protected.

Setting Up

Setup is fairly straight forward. The kit includes a book with all the info you will ever need.

It takes roughly an hour from start to finish. You’ll need some thread seal to attach the quick disconnect fittings and some ATF fluid for the pump. Once you have everything together, you’ll follow the bleeding procedure to get any remaining air out of the system which can be annoying but just take your time (it’s all worth it).

Quick Fittings

One of my favorite features of the QuickJack system is the quick disconnect fittings on all of the connectors. I guess that’s where the “Quick” in QuickJack comes from.

These fittings allow you to easily breakdown the components of the jack and store them away. This is especially nice if you don’t have that much space to work with and you need to put the jack away quickly and easily when you are finished working.

Lifting Capabilities

The QuickJack  offers 2 different heights during use. A safety bar on both sides helps lock the desired height into place and prevent the car from lowering.

Once you’ve reached your desired height, you can disconnect the main connecting lines from the frames and set them aside until you’re ready to lower.

Mods

Disclaimer: Make any modifications to this system at your own risk.

After I watched a few QuickJack videos, I thought it was going to be WAY  easier to maneuver the frames around in order to get them positioned under the car (I was wrong).

No worries though, with a 15$ set of castor wheels and some zipties, your frames will become so easy to move around a baby could do it (not really but you see what I’m trying to say).

To install, place a shim under the parts of the frame that are touching the ground so the entire frame is off the ground, roughly 1/8 – 1/4″. Once the frame is slightly off the ground, you can zip tie the castor wheels onto the frame arms that travel upwards when lifting a vehicle.

Once the car is in the air, the wheels don’t affect normal operation or safety of the QuickJack. After lowering the frames all the way, the caster wheels will now be touching the ground and supporting the frame for movement.
